Will we, David, defeat Goliath, the intensive agriculture practices, in this food crisis?

We started the session talking about energy consumption and emission for both organic and conventional farming practices. In the afternoon, we continued the session with Nic, the director of the ORC, talking about food security. It was very polemical; after all, talking about issues related to food it is not an easy discussion. It reaches everyone’s sensibility since food is extremely important for our subsistence. But it goes deeper than just subsistence….In these days, it is common to hear the word ‘crisis’; food crisis, economic crisis, social crisis, and even spiritual crisis. But among all crises, the one that show us the most dramatic failures throughout the system in terms of social, environmental, and economical issues is the one about food. In fact, talking about this issue among the group became very polemical and a bit frustrating. This is not a very easy topic to discuss, there is not a magic formula to solve it - just words, hopes, and possible ideas!!!!

I feel hopeful…Maybe the 'human ecological' approach would help us addressing the most accurate strategy to defeat Goliath! ;)

Talking about food…it is time to eat! Heather and Jenny just made a delicious pasta dish with vegetables and a fresh salad.

Buen Provecho!!!
